Gastroenterologists, in partnership with FUJIFILM India as the academic collaborator, have initiated the Gastro AI Academy.

In India, gastroenterologists have established the Gastro AI Academy, aimed at offering free artificial intelligence (AI) education to gastrointestinal (GI) surgeons and physicians. The purpose of the academy is to provide medical practitioners with advanced technological skills for enhancing patient care. As an academic partner for this initiative, FUJIFILM India, a leader in healthcare technology, has joined.
Dr. Amit Maydeo, the Chairman of the Institute of Gastrosciences at HN Reliance Hospital, highlighted the influence of AI in the field of Gastroenterology. “The domain of Gastroenterology has been perpetually advancing with the newest innovations and technologies. As many procedures can now be performed endoscopically, this has resulted in enhanced patient care, shorter hospital stays, and quicker recoveries. The use of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare represents a significant advancement, with numerous research initiatives underway worldwide. We cannot ignore the beneficial effects of artificial intelligence and its enormous potential. Therefore, we aim to equip our young gastroenterologists with the tools and knowledge that will prepare them for the future.
Dr. Rajkumar Wadhwa, a gastroenterologist at Apollo Hospital in Mysore, also shared his thoughts on the launch, saying, “Indian gastroenterologists have made significant contributions to the progress of diagnosing and treating GI-related diseases. We appreciate the support from global AI experts from the USA, Europe, Japan, and other countries for this academy dedicated to educating on the important subject of AI in gastroenterology.”
Dheeraj Chaudhri, who leads the Endoscopy Systems division at FUJIFILM India, emphasized the company’s engagement by stating, “FUJIFILM India is proud to partner with Gastro AI Academy as an education partner. We will maintain our support for gastroenterologists, aiming to spread knowledge and assist clinicians with cutting-edge technologies.
The Gastro AI Academy embodies a partnership among worldwide and Indian specialists to guarantee that the upcoming cohort of gastroenterologists is ready to spearhead future progress in patient care. With the start of its work, the academy is anticipated to be instrumental in the education and training of healthcare professionals, thereby enhancing India’s healthcare ecosystem.
